  Calendula
Calendula (Calendula officinalis) flowers are an omnipotent herbal healer for the skin. Naturally rich in vitamin C and flavonoids, calendula helps protect skin from UV-induced oxidative stress that causes accelerated aging.
Calendula stimulates the production of collagen and helps to improve healing time for irritated tissue and minimize scarring.
Calendula fights inflammation, bacteria, and viruses. In fact, calendula is so effective, it was used for centuries on battlefields in open wounds to slow bleeding, stave off infections, and promote healing.
Catmint! (Nepeta cataria) More than a good time for cats!
With it’s bright, lemony-rose-mint scent, catmint invites you to apply its beneficial anti-oxidants and flavonoids to speed healing and protect your lips from premature aging.
Catmint allures with exciting aromatic compounds like nepetalactone (the one cats get euphoric for), geraniol (a rose-like scent used in the manufacture of perfumes), and citronella (a lemony scent).

Need we say more?
We're looking out for you, and our planet.
Why does Botanybabe use extra virgin olive oil?
Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the highest quality olive oil. Extracted mechanically without the use of chemicals. Used by people for over 10,000 years, it's safe. Applied topically, olive oil can improve skin hydration and elasticity, prevent and heal inflammation, and provide sun protection (SPF 8).
Olive oil bests the carbon footprint of other oils. Olive trees are permanent crops that absorb and store more carbon from the air than they release. Olive orchards don't deplete the soil of nutrients and they use far less water than other crops, with 70% of olive groves being rain fed.
Why does Botanybabe use organic bees wax?
Beeswax softens skin, enhances elasticity, and reduces signs of aging. Beeswax is anti-allergenic, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, and anti-bacterial. Because of these properties, it's a highly stable base ingredient and extends product life.
Ecologically speaking, beeswax is superior to synthetic waxes. Beeswax is natural, biodegradable, and renewable. The use of organic beeswax ensures that beekeepers are supporting healthy bee populations that are vital for pollination services and plant diversity.
Why does Botanybabe use Vitamin E?
Natural Vitamin E is derived from plant oils. Vitamin E provides moisturizing hydration, and protection of the skin's natural barrier from environmental damage by free radicals. It can stimulate collagen production, which can reduce the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles. It also has the ability to naturally preserve the freshness of oils, lengthening shelf life.
Is natural, chemical-free and plant-based sun protection enough for me?
In most day-to-day cases, yes. Olive oil has a natural protection rating of SPF8, and infusing it with calendula increases it to about SPF15. A higher rating may be desired for prolonged or intense sun exposure. Botanybabe has begun development of Calendula Sport Lip Balm with added minerals to increase protection for extended outdoor lip comfort and protection. Regardless of the topical sun protection you choose, protecting skin by avoiding peak sun exposure and wearing a wide-brimmed hat is recommended.
I stocked up! Do you suggest I refrigerate new and unused balms I'm not ready to open yet?
Any balms that you're not ready to open are best stored in the refrigerator to maintain their maximum freshness. Worry not, all Botanybabe lip balms include natural Vitamin E to preserve freshness and shelf life at ambient temperatures.
It's like having a chai latte on my lips! Yummy! Plus, it has calendula which heals and protects my wind burned lips.
